Likely normal: You have a normal BMI.  A blood glucose under 140 two hrs after eating is still considered normal.  A better assessment to see if you are pre-diabetic is to get a fasting glucose, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol level, and blood pressure.  If you have any 3 of the following 5 criteria you are considered pre-diabetic: waist &gt;35 in, fasting glucose &gt;100, triglycerides &gt;150, HDL &lt;50, BP &gt; 130/85

Absolutely not: The first thing that needs to be done is accurate measurement of his blood glucose levels, HgbA1C, blood ketones and several other labs. I've seen way to many young kids have "abnormal" levels on blood glucose machines designed for adults only and not being appropriately used on a 6 year old. So go to doctor, tell them you've been checking it on whoever's machine, and then get accurate tests run.

Yes: Any fasting blood glucose level within the impaired fasting glucose range, 101-125 mg/dl, qualifies one for pre-diabetic. The presence of fatty liver disease, chronic pancreatitis, early/latent autoimmune diabetes, or iron overload should be considered in a normal weight physically active young adult individual. Low carb diet and increased exercise can help. Need to see your doctor to run tests.

A : A normal bs is less than 110.  I do believe you have a real right to be concerned about your risk of developing diabetes.  Your family has an extensive history of diabetes and you are 20 pounds overweight which increases the chances of you developing diabetes mellitus.  Please start eating a proper diet , avoiding lots of sweets and carbohydrates.  Get regular exercise, even walking daily helps.  Lose some weight.  Keep vigilant, check your fasting bs periodically.  You can make a difference, but you need to start now.  Postpone it, and indeed diabetes may be in your future.  Best wishes.

? done when symptoms: Unless the glucose is tested when you are having the symptoms of hypoglycemia, it might be normal.  You have to check the blood during symptoms.

Yes: Fasting blood glucose level of 5.7 mmol/l falls within the range of 5.6-6.9 mmol/l which is defined as the 'impaired fasting glucose' or pre-diabetic range. In young female individuals this is usually seen with polycystic ovary syndrome and difficulty losing weight. If you checked glucose levels  two hours after meals, typically, they are higher than 7.8 mmol/l consistent with glucose intolerance.

It varies: A fasting blood glucose greater than or equal to 126 is considered a level of diabetes.  Less than 45 is too low.  A random glucose of greater than 200 is considered diabetic.

Diabetes?: Your glucose converted into mg/dl is 90 or normal. You could have a pro-calcitonin test or glucose tolerance test if warranted. Is there a family history? Anxiety and caffeine can cause frequent urination as well as infection. Drinking copious amounts of fluids will also cause it, too. Thyroid tests?
Has appetite increased on sertralene?
