i have sharp pain in my breasts when i unbutton bra at day end. no pain while wearing bra. the pain lessens afterwards. lymph nodes are found in altra sonogram in both axilla measuring 16.6* 5.8 and 15.1*6.7mm. what shall i do?  i am 49?

: It is important to follow up with the Dr who ordered the ultrasound. They will have the full results as well as your complete history and course and will be best suited to diagnose, and prescribe a course of action/treatment.

Possible lymphoma: The presence of lymph nodes that can be palpated in axilla would lead to evaluation  of other sites as seen on CAT scan.  This procedure must have been ordered to see if other nodal areas were involved as in retroperitoneum.  Since there are many causes of multiple areas of enlarged nodes, dx must be determined by bx.  Aspiration of no value since architecture of nodes required for proper dx.

what causes chronic elevated  wbc's  , on no meds , mention of lymph nodes in para aortic are and retroperitoneal, also they have been noted in axilla?

This pattern: Could be seen in indolent non-hodgkin's lymphoma.  Would not say more without details on the degree and type of wbcs increased and the size of the nodes.

: Your history of an infection could have possibly caused the sub clinical hyperthyroidism. I typically repeat the thyroid level 4-6 weeks later to verify. A thyroid physical exam should also be done. Also, if you have family history of breast/ovarian cancer or have concerns with breast lumps/bumps, you are in the age range to consider getting a mammogram to screen for breast cancer.

Feel them: Place your finger tips into the arm pit the area closer to the chest than the hand. Deep palpation with a little pressure the nodes will feel like a soft pea if they are swollen. Sometines they are hard. If you do feel nodes have your doctor check as well

: You can feel lymph glands in the armpits, especially while your arms are hanging down loosely against the side of your chest wall. When you stretch your arms high up, the lymph glands will retract deeper into the armpits.

: That is normally felt if you are thin.

: If pathological, enlarged lymph nodes are obvious. I say it that way because an examiner can palpate normal lymph nodes with experience, especially in patients like you with a lean body habitus. You are at an age where you notice many things about your body you never paid attention to before, which can feed into anxiety about your health. If you feel ok, you are. Don't look for signs you're not.
