See nutritionist: A nutrition specialist may be able to help you now that you have been diagnosed with uc.  Remember uc is an autoimmune disorder.  It manifests by the GI tract and this inflammation should be in the colon not the small bowel.  Your nutritional status should be ok.  Talk to your doctor for a nutrition consult.

Not likely related: ulcerative colitis is confined to the colon and therefore not related to the duodenitis   duodenitis is usually related to acid but may be related to possible h pylori infection

Ask your doctor: particularly if with symptoms from the duodenitis, be sure to ask your gastroenterologist since it is unclear whether or not you should be treated and depends on current medications, actual pathology from endoscopic biopsies, etc..

It is a lot of work focusing on normalizing bowel movements (2 soft daily), avoiding irritants (they vary but gluten, bile acids, lactose, fat are prominent), immunmodulation (using immune suppression and vaccinations against viruses and tuberculosis). Surgery is your back up, when all else fails a surgeon can remove the bad body part, your colon.
