Not recommended: It's not recommended to have an hsg done during a full menstrual period.  Some docs allow spotting. Check with your fertility specialist.

Shouldn't: No hormones are used during the procedure and the exam is timed so as not to do one inadvertently if the patient is pregnant. So, i wouldn't expect the exam to delay your menses.

Confusing dates: It is unusual to do your HSG on the first day of your period. Not sure I understand. Sept 12 would be too early to have your next menses if it started August 24, so I'm a bit confused.

Call the clinic: Clinics have different protocols. Some do not want you to be on your period. Call them. I'm sure they get that question a lot.

Unlikely.: All imaging centers are required to check a urine pregnancy test before proceeding with a hysterosalpingogram, so as to avoid injuring or aborting an early pregnancy. Anecdotal reports of pregnancies that survived such exposures may exist but are rare. Check urine pregnancy test if you think you may be pregnant and consult with mfm and genetics!

Good instincts...: The HSG test is usually done roughly between days 6 and 10 after your period starts.  The idea of the timing is to make sure you aren't yet pregnant and also aren't on your period.  You shouldn't have an HSG done if there is a chance you are already pregnant.  You have good instincts!  Consider discussing this with your doctor.  Best wishes!

No ovulation : Your test show no ovulation. Your doctor can start you on Clomid (clomiphene)  when ready.

Anovulatory bleeding: Pregnancy is always on the list of possibilities when a woman has abnormal uterine bleeding or cycles.  You may be having anovulatory cycles (cycle without producing an egg from the ovary).  If a urine pregnancy test is negative, i would recommend evaluation by your gynecologist, and treatment will depend on the cause of the abnormal bleeding and your current short-term pregnancy goals.
