Yes: Sacroiliac fusion is rarely done for a very specific type of back pain coming from the sacroiliac  joints. A very thorough work up is needed prior to surgery to be sure that the symptoms are coming from sacroiliac joint problems. If not and the surgery is done, the person will be no better afterwards and my in fact be worse.

Yes: I do several procedures per day.  This is the joint between your hip bone and tail bone in the back of your pelvis.  It can cause pain and/or numbness down the leg on that side.  Ask your doctor how many of this type of injections he/she does, what they are injecting into the joint and what they hope to accomplish with the injection.

Sacroilitis: You may inflammation in the joints called sacroilitis. Try Ibuprofen or Naproxen for relief. If no improvement get an x-ray to check for arthritis.

Probably arthritis.: Sclerosis means excessive loading of the joint, as seen in arthritis.
One may or may not have pain /stiffness with it. These are fairly stable joints with thick ligaments around them, but with injury(ies) can develop arthritis, causing pain, tiredness etc.

Fix?: The only fix is a fusion.  Be careful as I have seen many unhappy patients after such an operation.  Are you sure the joint is unstable and not just arthritic?

Very slowly: Because of the poor blood flow in that area it can take awhile for it to heal. Prolotherapy can help this condition.
