Maybe indirectly: I have not heard of this reaction to a nicotine patch although every body is different. What seems more likely is that you are feeling stress in the process of quitting smoking.  This could make you sweat more.  Also, if you are not smoking, your sense of,smell,is more sensitive.  Do you feel ok otherwise?  You may want to check with your doctor about the strength of your patch.  Good work stoppin

The pt sets a quit date; switches from smoking cigarettes to using one of the nrs's (such as the patch); and then the nrs is gradually tapered over the next 2-3 months, until nicotine has been eliminated from the body.

Niether: Both are nicotine replacement. Either can substitute for the nicotine in cigarettes. I recommend trying with out nicotine replacement, because at some point you will have to go through the withdrawal. It is really not that bad, and cravings only last 2-5 mins. Distract yrself for that long w chewing on carrots or celery, deep breathing, meditation, running around the block, etc. Each time it hits.

No canceer: nicoderm (nicotine patch) patches are used to wean off nicotine. This has nothing to do with the nicotine in cigarrete smoking when the fumes from smoking can induce malignant transformation secondary to carcinogens in the tobacco which when burnt and inhaled can cause problems.

YES: For someone who is naive to nicotine,  using a patch can cause "toxicity."   if a patch helps you "cut down" on tobacco it is well worth it and relatively safe.   They can't recommend that, however, because  I do not believe that has ever been formally studied.
