nexplanon bleeding. during sex, after sex, without sex.. prd for 3 wks. usually 4 days-1wk w/ prvs bc. implntd 10/04/2013. will the bleeding ever stop?

Have hope!: Unfortunately about 20% of women with the contraceptive implant will have irregular spotting that lasts more than 14d, but have hope, you can expect a decrease in bleeding/spotting over the course of the first year. If you want to be proactive, see a gyn for a course of nsaids or tranexamic acid 500 mg bid x 5days to help curb the bleeding; or try adding birth control pills. Discuss with your md.

Not normal: This is not normal. Contact your GYN MD for further advice and evaluation.

can nexplanon cause occasional bleeding a day after sex ? i have no other symptoms just occasional bleeding after sex. same partner for 22years

Can cause bleeding: Irregular bleeding is a common and normal side effect of nexplanon. For some bleeding occurs less frequently than your normal cycle. For others more frequently. There is no normal bleeding pattern on Nexplanon. Your obgyn can attempt to control this breakthrough bleeding with other medications. For some this will work.

sister at clicks had my wife on 3 months pill, 3 months injection before going into nexplanon to prevent bleeding. this doesnt make sense to me?

Stopping cycle: with hormones is an ok plan for many, as progesterone therapy keeps the lining of the uterus very thin, minimal bleeding.
For many patients this is helpful with other gynecologic problems as well. Thinning the lining prior to using Nexplanon is a helpful idea for some patients, making sure they tolerate progestin therapy as well.

missed my per. for the 2nd month and am on nexplanon but had bleeding during intercourse , and as soon as we finished it stopped. what could this be?

Nexplanon  bleed: Irregular bleeding is an almost universal side effect of nexplanon. There is no normal time for your period on this birth control  method. Irregular bleeding can be annoying but it does not mean that the method is not working. This side effect is very typical of Progesterone only birth control

Vaginal pain: requires a thorough GYN exam. The  causes are multiple; however, most commonly: lack of vaginal lubrication, intense, vigorous intercourse, positional variations, manipulation, and hormonal factors, just for starters. Hint: try 20-30 minutes of foreplay until both partners are lubricated or use an aqueous lubricant, changes positions if painful, time "time-outs"  to empty your bladder

just removed nexplanon because of constant bleeding. 4 days later and i still am. i have also started the pill. should this help stop the bleeding?

Should help: If your bleeding was from Nexplanon then oral contraceptives should help. If it does not help then an evaluation by an Obgyn will be needed to investigate other causes of irregular menstrual bleeding

Pelvic pain: Pelvic pain is complex as there are several organs in the pelvis. The ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, bladder, appendix, intestines, colon and rectum can all be the source. Pelvic pain requires and examination to help organize the evaluation. Cramping is not a typical side effect of Nexplanon.

is the bleeding from nexplanon my period? i bled/spotted for about 20 days. is that my period?

Nexplanon ?'s: Nexplanon is a progesterone derivative with variable effects at times.  Progestins will not stop estrogen production from the ovaries, but do have a suppressive effect on regular ovulation.  Irregular bleeding should be investigated by your gyn physician who provided Nexplanon.  Occasional pregnancy can occur, and pregnancy outside the uterus (ectopic) needs immediate care.

got nexplanon removed because of bleeding for 5wks. still bleeding after getting it removed 2 wks ago. started bc pills. dr wants ultrasound? no pain.

Follow MD's advice: Your GYN MD must have determined from examination or other concerns that the ultrasound may provide some elucidation to your withdrawal bleeding. So follow the MD's advice at this point.
