It might not help: Nexium (esomeprazole) is not helping with the reflux, it helps to reduce the stomach acidity. If your baby on a liquid diet, it's physiologic for them to have a reflux . Try elevated head of the bed, thickened the food, efficient burping technique. But i would not recommend Nexium (esomeprazole) for a small baby. It mess up with the digestion and promote unhealthy bacterial overgrowth.

Risk of side effects: Long term use of a nexium can lead to many adverse effects, including gastrointestinal infections/colitis, malabsorption of vitamins, decreased calcium levels and increased fracture risk, increased risk of pneumonia. PPI use longer than 6mo-1yr isn't generally recommended. It's important to talk to your doctor about how to decrease these risks and discuss alternatives.

Nexium (esomeprazole): is a 24 hour drug. Personally I don't think it matters when you take it as long as you take it at approx the same time daily.  It is not a take it as you need it drug.  It does take a couple of days to start working well depending on the severity of your symptoms.

No: no, you should not take both Nexium (esomeprazole) and Prilosec at the same time. If you feel that the Nexium (esomeprazole) is not helping, you should contact the doctor who prescribed it to see if he or she wants to change the medication or the dosage of it. If necessary, you can use Tums as needed when you are having your symptoms. Good luck.

Reflux: In most cases, Nexium and medications of this class should not be used for years. It can cause a lack of nutrition absorption, thin bones, predisposition to infections, and kidney issues. Magnesium levels should be checked on patients using them.

There are reasons to take them for years which specific diagnoses. They are often over-prescribed. Speak to your doctor.

All medication : All medications have risks. So no free lunch. However. I do not know your condition. You have been on nexium for a very long time and you are very young. So there are times when the benefit outweighs the risk. Safe. Not necessarily so but perhaps safer than the alternative
