taking nexium for years but chronic gastritis wont go away. could it be a side effect of nexium itself?

Scope or not to scop: Nexium is not a cure; it's there only to reduce the problem of acidity. Your doctor should probably refer you to a gastroenterologist at this time to get an upper scope. Then again, that's my opinion. If you have an ulcer, nexium helps with healing, but won't cure the ulcer. I guess if you have chronic gastritis, is because you were scoped already?

i have chrons also on lansaprozol. is this due to sudden weight gain, a very distended hard abdomen? is this a side effect from the drug? try nexium (esomeprazole)?

With Crohn's: A very distended hard abdomen is more concerning for a developing intestinal obstruction. These signs are not side effects of lansoprazole.

nexium (esomeprazole) 40mg helps, but causes loose stool.  is there an otc alternative that won't have this side effect?

PPI: Alternative OTC drugs in the same family would be Omeprazole or Lansoprazole. Make sure you let your physician know if you decide to transition to OTC drugs. Another important point would be to adjust to a lower dose, if available. Individual side effects are unpredictable and tolerability is tested on a trial basis.

persistent painful muscle spasm in back (left side) for 10 days and now the right side is also bit sore. i am on nexium 40 mg twice a day for 17 days. could these muscle spasms be a side effect  of taking nexium?

: Nexium can lower magnesium levels which can cause muscle spasms. There are many other reasons for muscle spasms that should be considered.

Possible. Stop it: In any event of new onset of symptoms after taking a new medication. You need to stop and contact your doctor as there may be a hypersensitivity reaction to the ingredients in the medication or its casing.

7 week old baby with reflux spit up more on nexium, has more gas and drinks less. is this a side effect of nexium? should nexium be stopped or will the side effects ease over time? if nexium is stopped, will the acid from the reflux cause harm?

Basics: Reflux is a common issue in infants &amp; tends to gradually increase as they get stronger, peaking at 3-4 mo and subsiding after they learn to sit up. Most have stopped at a year.Nexium simply reduces acid production by stomach glands.The acid burns the lower swallow tube during reflux.It does not trigger gas. The pattern is following the natural course &amp; may need added help.

: I do not see any interaction or taking those 2 drugs together; however, a high gastric acid pH due to taking Esomeprazole may reduce the absorption of Doxycycline.

There is none: Nexium (esomeprazole) (proton pump inhibitors)  do not have sulfa components and shouldn't be a problem with someone having a a sulfa allergy.

Which NyQuil?: Turns out, there are many versions of NyQuil, each w/different medications/ingredients. So while it's wise to check for interactions, you need to be more specific. Check out http://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=1015-567,55-17410,54-16419 where I ran 2 common versions against Nexium (esomeprazole) - looks fine. You can always ask local pharmacist or your Family Doc, too. Above assumes no allergie
