NO: simply apply over the counter 1% hydrocortisone cream. Do not overuse permthrin.

See Your Doctor: The condition being treated is not stated. Permethrin is used to treat scabies, a skin-burrowing mite. Causes rash, intense itch/inflammation. Symptoms can persist a few weeks after successful treatment due to a hypersensitivity reaction in skin; may require steroid cream, antihistamine for relief. Must also treat all household members to avoid re-infestation. Suggest confirm diagnosis w/ doctor.

Scabies symptoms: The symptoms of scabies -- itchy red bumps -- are not due to live mites, but the body's allergic reaction to the mites, their egg, etc. It takes a while for these to be absorbed and the immune reaction to stop. Therefore, itching and new bumps commmonly continue for several days after treatment. Hang in there; it will clear up! If it takes more than 10 days or so, contact your doctor.

Genital lesion: The treatment you had is used for scabies. The problem you are dealing most probably not scabies, have it examined and tested with some labs to get to the right diagnosis

Plan. : Treatment should be repeated for complete eradication. Sometimes this requires  more than a week.

Best not to: If you still have scabies, i would retreat.  Anyone that shares a bed with you should be treated at the same time.  I treat again in 4 days after the first treatment.  Apply Permethrin from neck to toes and every nook in between.  Wash off in am, wash all clothes in hot water, dry heat.  If persists, need pill called ivermectin.

See below: It's recommended to receive  two treatments with 5% Permethrin 1 week apart.  Make sure that you treat your whole body from chin to toes and leave the Permethrin on your skin for 8 to 14 hours before washing it off.

Yes: Because its used to tx mite infection, the infection may recur so you may get new bumps and need to restart tx.

No.: You may be having a reaction to the medicine. See your doc and see if you still need treatment,or if so, if  another medicine would be better.  In the meantime, avoid fragrances in soaps, detergents and fabric softeners.  Wash with tepid not hot water, and do not over-scrub (all these things make itching worse).  Pat dry.

New bumps after Rx: Scabies treatments often contain a high percentage of alcohol which can be very drying to the skin.  New bumps should not develop unless they are from a hypersensitivity reaction or if the infestation was not completely cleared.  An examination of skin scrapings can reveal the difference.
