Sleep doc: Check with a highly educated sleep doc about restless leg syndrome. Neupro (rotigotine) patch sounds rather odd! placebo is probably similar. Discuss with your doc!

Parkinson&#x27;s Disease: These are both medications used to treat parkinson&#x27;s disease, not psychosis.  Some antipsychotic medications can induce parkinsonism in movements -- not true parkinson&#x27;s disease.  Sometimes these meds used to treat parkinson&#x27;s may cause psychotic symptoms.  Late-stage parkinson&#x27;s disease can also involve a type of dementia with hallucinations as well.

my 84 year old dad has parkinson's based on symptoms.... severe left side tremors, restless legs, trouble stand/walking, edema.  he's on neupro patch 3mg (requip before) and carbidopa/levodopa 100mg.  no real relief.  anything else he can try?

Careful: Parkinson is a spectrum of movement disorders and your dad should be under the care of a neurologist specializing in movement disorders. Some of the mentioned symptoms may not be related to Parkinson, but concurrent conditions and they will have to be addressed properly in this context.

Variable: Hello -- great question -- and you're basically asking about the difference between Neupro (rotigotine) ; requip.  The data i've seen shows that Neupro (rotigotine) had a 7-14% incidence of hallucinations in clinical trials.  This effect was dose-related, also.  Requip had 5% incidence of hallucinations.  Results may vary by individual too.  I'll refer this question to some neurology colleagues for input also.  Thanks.

No: This is a prescription item, used primarily for post-herpetic neuralgia. Caution is advised: allergic rxns, interaction with some cardiac medications, additive effects with other caine drugs, etc. Under a doctor's orders, please.
