what options aside from anticonvulsants are there for nerve pains. i hate anticonvulsants and amytriplyn made me feel worse. what's my options?

Suggestions: Nerve pain medicines include Lyrica, gabapentin, Gralise, Horizant, Cymbalta, and possibly Savella (milnacipran).  The last two would not be used for epilepsy, but Lyrica and gabapentin could be employed as AED's.  Nucynta is an approved opioid for diabetic origin "nerve pain".  Would not suggest amitryptiline anymore due to side effects and lack of efficacy.

Many conditions: Many conditions cause a throbbing pain in the head.  Are you certain it is a nerve pain?  Where is it?  How long does it last?  Is it worse with any activities?  Migraine headache is the most common throbbing head pain, trigeminal neuralgia, tension headache, and headache related to the sinuses are some of the other possible causes.  You may need an examination and testing to get the answer.

Generally No: While Concussions are considered a mild brain injury, they are not know to cause pain in back or in extremities.  My recommendation is to see a doctor to evaluate your spine for real causes of this back and nerve pain.

No scans: There are no radiological scans for nerve pain.

See an orthopedist : If your pain was strictly pregnancy related it would be gone by now. You need to see an orthopedist  to further evaluate your problem.

Arthritis: It can, but first get clearance from your doctor who can also make the referral if he/she deems necessary.

OK: There are lots of things that can help. You need to find out if you have any other conditions that might be affecting you. You may need to see a specialist like a neurologist or a physiatrist. I see lots of people with the same complaint. Rarely do people require surgery. Most end up benefiting from a combination of physiotherapy and medications. I like to use Gabapentin (patients like it ).

i am taking betolvex and theregran pills for almost now 3 years because i had my severe eye nerve pains and low haemoglobin...what should i do ?

Get evaluated: Anemia can be due to many causes. B12 and iron deficiency are 2 causes. A blood count should be checked to see if the anemia has responded to these supplements.

Thoughts...: Unfortunately, there won't be much clarification with the symptoms you describe.  Anxiety can cause many gastric symptoms - including pain, upset, belching, diarrhea.  However, anxiety will not cause fevers or blood in the stool.  This can help you differentiate which is which.  But, otherwise, it's very difficult to know.

See doctor: In the absence of a history of recent neck injury, one needs to rule out meningitis.   Recommend that you go to the ER if your personal doctor can't see you now.
