i had a nerve conduction test done for my spine on my legs. 2 days later i developed a cramp in one of my calves that won't go away. could this be a side effect?

: Did you experience a severe muscle cramp in that calf during the EMG?  I've only heard of very mild muscle spasms occurring during an EMG but not enough to cause persistent muscle pain. With severe muscle cramps tiny muscle tears can occur&amp; cause more  prolonged discomfort.

is it possible to get a nerve conduction test & not an emg? i have very severe anxiety with needles & the only way i would be able to do an emg is if i was knocked out. my occupational therapist thinks i may have trapped nerves on ulnar side?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and it is possible that you may not need EMG. It would be helpful to consult your primary care provider and if needed a rehabilitation medicine specialist. 
Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. 
Get HPV vaccine.

i have cramping an tingling down the right side of my knee to my ankle. i've had a nerve conduction test an mri to check for nerve entrap. but nothin?

Or something else: Your symptoms can sound consistent with a nerve entrapment, but there might be other causes for it.  It might be in the muscle itself. Talk with your doctor and ask for additional reasons for your symptoms.  Good luck!

i partially tore my tfcc ligament two years ago & i still have pain & numbness on my pinky side of my hand. my occupational therapist thinks i might have trapped nerves or scar tissue from when it was healing. can a nerve conduction test show that?

Depends: It really depends on what the possible problem is.  Nerve conduction tests are usually done with electromyography.  The test is non-invasive and an office procedure that does not require anesthesia.  The electromyography portion involves needles.

what does a normal emg/nerve conduction test tell you?

No pinched nerves: A normal test would tell you that the nerves tested are not pinched or slow.  The normal EMG (the needle part of the test) would  tell you that the muscle are not showing signs of damage (to either the muscle itself or the nerves).

Diagnosis: Using small needles and mild electrical shocks, the EMG can test normal vrs abnormal nerve and muscle function, and show muscle, nerve, or neuromuscular connection problems.  Diagnosis of a pinched nerve in neck or back or leg or arm can be documented.  Based on this test, appropriate treatment can be initiated.

NO: the nerves involved in Fibromyalgia are too tiny to show up on ordinary EMG/NCS studies!

: FND is a functional disorder and nerve conduction is for nerve conditions eg MS etc

More information: It sounds like you are getting to a diagnosis.  What did the doctor say that did the nerve conduction test?  What medications if any are you on?
