Lip wound care: Lacerations or sutured wounds can have topical antibiotics like neosporin or Bacitracin applied as long as the person does not have allergies to the products being used. The frequency of use is usually three times per day to prevent the site from drying or dessicating.

NO: Throw it away. Aminoglycoside antibiotics used on skin have not been shown to treat or prevent infections. They are sensitizers, causing allergic reactions. They promote emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. If you have a wound, vaseline or Aquaphor is superior. You forgot to indicate the reason for using it.

Better to avoid.: This area of the body is very vascular allowing it to heal well. If you have a yeast infection – then use of an antifungal medication for tears would be appropriate. If you were to use neosporin it may lead you to becoming sensitive to the medication.

Possibly: You can, especially if there is a wound or crack causing bleeding.  However, i don't like neosporin on the face because the neomycin in neosporin has been known o cause a chemical dermatitis.  Use polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) for this purpose instead.  If using it just for chapped lips, just use chapstick or similar...

Neomycin: Neosporin contains bacitracin, polymyxin and neomycin.  Neomycin is a common allergan so many people react with a contact allergy dermatitis to neosporin.  I would recommend using aquaphor lip ointment instead as it almost never causes a problem.

Neosporin: neosporin is safe as long as you don't lick or ingest it. And be aware, it may burn if you have cuts in your lips and can cause even worse chapping and dryness. Get Vaseline tomorrow!

May be skin allergy!:  Neosporin is a common OTC skin antibiotic, but it has a moderate incidence of  cutaneous (skin) sensitization/ allergy. Cleanse the cut site with clean water, stop using Neosporin, and use a different skin antibiotic, such as Bacitracin. Avoid use of Neosporin in the future! See your family MD if it doesn’t clear up.

No: Topical neosporin should not be used in your mouth. There is treatment for the yeast infection which would heal the cuts. neosporin is unlikely to be effective

Uncertain: You did not mention that skin was broken. It may not be related to an infection. Neosporin is for treatment of infections.
