can i fix my face assymetry due to tmj? i am 16 years old and have tmj for 3 years now. i suffer from headache, ear with neck pain (but from time to time), joint popping sound. i am still able to yawn and open my mouth, but of course to a limit?

i'm 25, female. i have a severe phobia of als. i had enmg and lots neurologists checked me, but now im afraid of bulbar form,i focused on my tongue and it started twitching and my tongue and mouth are tense, i have trouble spaking.others don't see it?

: Seriously doubt you have ALS or any other motor neuron disease.  You may have other problems with your tongue and mouth, and would urge consulting with dentist and otolaryngologist.  Your "severe phobia" needs to be addressed with a psychologist.

Temporomandibular : Temporomandibular disorder arises when the TM joint, bones and muscles around them are affected. Symptoms usually are pain in the jaw and TM joint area especially with the opening/closing movement of the joint. Commonly precipitated by injury or tension in the surrounding muscle by teeth clenching kind of movements. Dentist take care of these problems; get it checked out.

Possible GERD: Get examined and evaluated for GERD or gastritis with reflux. I suggest starting on PPI therapy such as OTC Nexium or Prilosec as well as antacids like Mylanta or Maalox.

Rheumatologic.: This clearly sounds rheumatologic in nature.  Lupus?  Rheumatoid arthritis?  Sjogren's?  Mixed connective tissue disease?  Something along these lines.  You should have more extensive blood testing and evaluations in this regard, perhaps governed by a Rheumatologist.

: Test yourself over the next few hours. If you can continue to swallow cool water without it producing significant pain during swallowing, you may have just scorched outer areas that will self heal. If you encounter a spasm that prevents water from entering your stomach or you can't swallow your mouth mucus, go in for a formal evaluation.
