: Given that you are near sighted, it is possible that you could use a computer without reading glasses, but if not try a +1.00 for the computer.

im nearsighted and have a minor prescription so i need to wear my glasses all the time but am still wondering if it's better to either watch tv or use the computer with them?

: You may not need to wear glasses while using computer, if you can read screen. You need glasses to watch TV to get a clear picture.
Wearing glasses will not make your vision worse.
For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. 
Get HPV vaccine.

is wearing weaker prescription glasses for when i am on the computer a bad thing to do? i'm nearsighted but i still need glasses to see the computer

Not bad: You don't need your full correction to see the computer. As long as you are comfortable in them and you are seeing the computer screen well, then you should be fine. Don't use someone else's glasses ad they might have astigmatism or prism correction that you don't need. Take care.

Glasses: Decide based on your comfort with either option. If you feel like you need the glasses to see better up close then wear them. Otherwise, don't. Take care.

: I would try them and see what works the best for you and if still a problem ask the eye dr who knows you and your eyes.

is it safe for a myopic person to use glasses while on the computer?

Accepted Answer

Yes: As long the glasses clears up your vision at the computer distance its not a problem.   Sometime depends on the level of your correction the computer distance can be clear with or without glasses.  After 40 the person may become presbyopic that means he/she cannot focus at near.  If the person is mildly myopic then computer could be clear without glasses.

how soon after lasik should i get computer glasses? i know the prescription can change. now that the myopia is gone my right eye feels strained.

Today: Buy +1.25 or +1.00 over-the-counter glasses.  This works well for computer use.

Nope!: Reading glasses will notable you nearsighted. Quite the opposite, reading glasses, if too strong, will worsen farsightedness. So use as low a strength as you can comfortably read with.

Accepted Answer

No: people who are nearsighted can often read quite well without their glasses on. Their reading vision actually gets worse when they wear their distance glasses when they try to read. This typically happens when they get into their mid-40s. They develop a loss of focusing power up close called presbyopia (happens to everyone).

Not routinely: Not in the usa routinely. There is a new variable focus eyeglass available that mimics spherical myopic rx's. It is called "adlens"...Available online...Developed  as an inexpensive option for developing countries. Interesting product, but we have not had any experience with it.
