Benadryl (diphenhydramine) was shown to be safe in pregnancy by a class action suit being brought against it failing to show any deformities that were unexpected compared to the rest of the population. But before using any antihistamine in a tiny baby, check with your doctor. Don't use antihistamines for colds. They make secretions thick and increase sinus infection.

Maybe,maybe not: I discourage the use of medications in this way.Getting the child up early and cutting short their naps can make them drowsy enough to be docile.I have had some kids become wild on the antihistamines as a side effect and increase traveling problems.Some have used it successfully.If you plan to, try out the med a few days before you travel to see how it effects your kid.

: Yes,you may get false negative tests. I recommend rescheduling so the antihistamine can be stopped the highly recommended 7 days before testing.

Natural treatments : Natural treatments are medications too. Usually not as well studied or characterized for benefit and safety as those approved by the fda.  I don't know of any natural antihistamines per se but butterbur has been reported to have benefits. A very safe alternative to allergy medicine  is buffered saline washes. These can be purchased or home made but certain hygienic guidelines should be followed.

Needs plan: Asthma is best managed with a written action plan based on symptoms recorded in a daily asthma diary. Cough medicines &amp; antihistamines rarely if ever benefit asthma and may thicken secretions making it worse. At 6 a kid is able to be taught inhaler use. A daily maintenance inhaled steroid &amp; rarely used rescue inhaler is the usual plan.Seek an eval by a pedi or asthma specialist.

Cool bath may help.: Roseola rash is generally not itchy and lasts about 3 days.  Itchy rash sounds more an like allergic reaction or urticaria that can come as a result of infection, so if rash doesn't clear in 3 days, please get evaluation.  Continue antihistamine.  Sometimes topical lotions that leave the skin feeling cool also is effective.

Avoid damaged (fried and cooked) fats, which enhance inflammatory processes in the body. No sodas!
