Eventually, a switch turns on in the brain which causes uncontrollable cravings and an inability to control use of the drug.  It takes over their life.  Then, patients will do anything to get the drug-lie, steal.  Untreated, death from overdose can occur. Seek help immediately.

Not directly: Drugs of abuse in their pure form cannot disturb the vision except for the psychedelic effects causing visual hallucinations.  You can lose vision by 1) overdose with loss of consciousness leading to stroke in the eye or visual part of the brain  2) adulterated drugs containing dangerous substances  3) injection of contaminated drugs.  Best solution?  Get off illegal substances.

Smoking starts smoking among friends as does unhealthy alcohol use; control can go later. Addiction to opiates is treacherous in folks with chronic pain.

But, if they are nice and helpful, is that so bad?
