can i take aleve (naproxen) and excedrin migraine at the same time?

NSAID treatments: There is not much use in taking Alleve and Excedrin migraine at the same time.  Either one or the other should be used.  When people are taking many of these in the same day for headaches, sometimes a cycle of headache symptoms results, which is sometimes called a rebound headache.

Technically, yes: Aleve (naproxen) contains naprosen, and excedrin contains acetominiphen, two different classes of pain relievers.  However, it often takes at least an hour for these meds to work.  you should wait for at least an hour to take the second one.  If this doesn't help, consider going to your local ER for treatment.

See doc: If headaches are frequent or severe you may benefit from prophylactic treatment.  There are many medications to choose from.

i have been on concerta for a week now and i've gotten a migraine each day, would it be safe to take naproxen and concerta together?

Naproxen: If this is really a migraine headache maybe Naproxen will not be sufficient to get some relief. At the same time, if this headache is related to intolerance to the Concerta, it would be a good idea to ask your doctor and check if you need a dose adjustment or an alternate medication. In the meantime, there is no problem to try Naproxen.

i took one aleve (naproxen) pill that is 220mg today around 5pm. i am wondering if it is okay to take an advil migraine pill wich is 200mg. it is 1230am now.

Migraine treatment: There are many good medications for migraine treatment. Migraine is a serious and complex neurologic disorder. Today effective management of migraine involves three specific strategies: 1) patient education 2) non-pharmacological management (diet, sleep hygiene, acupuncture) and 3) pharmacological (triptans, topamax, (topiramate) etc) management. Naproxen AND migraine: I would DC Naproxen as is not specific for migraines.
The efficacy of venlafaxine, which is selectively effective on the serotonergic and noradrenergic mechanisms, on various headaches and chronic pain syndromes has been demonstrated. To our knowledge, this is the first placebo-controlled, double-blind, randomized study of two different doses of venlafaxine for migraine treatment.A significant difference was observed between the venlafaxine 150 mg and placebo groups in the number of headache attacks (P= .006). According to patient satisfaction comparisons, the active drug groups were significantly different when compared with placebo (P= .001 at visit 2 and visit 6). When the global efficacy was considered, 80% of patients in the 75-mg group and 88.2% of the patients in the 150-mg group evaluated treatment benefits as either good or very good.

Better to stick one: Better to stick with one NSAID. You need to discuss your choice of NSAIDs with your physician.

i have migraines once a week. acidity and/or flatulence precede the migraine. i take 500 mg naproxen for a migraine. how do i prevent migraine attack?

Migraine ppx : You first see your doctor to make sure this is migraine and not another headaches syndrome or systemic condition. Next step is identification and avoidance of triggers.   Depending on severity and frequency of your migraine, daily prophylactic therapy with beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, tcas, anticonvulsants, etc. Can be tried. Triptans +/- naprosyn (naproxen) for abortive therapy.
