Lyrica (pregabalin): The drug Lyrica (pregabalin) was recently approve to treat the pain of spinal cord trauma, and likely would help in transverse myelitis also.  One approach, using an analgesic, might be a Butrans patch, or tramadol er, so discuss with your doctor and see what might be of value.  Also, is the transverse myelitis a problem secondary to an underlying disease or just an isolated event?

Transverse myelitis: It bodes very well that you have been in full recovery for 12 years.  Many episodes of tm are isolated, as does seem to be the case for you.  Understandably scary, but continue to be proactive.  A low immunological diet might also be something to think about if you are not already doing that.  Good luck.

???: Please check the name of the condition.  Myelitis is an inflammation of the spinal cord.  Polycystic means many cysts, and could be related to kidney or ovary.  I'm not aware of any conditions called polycystic myelitis.

Yes.: Yes absolutely.  Transverse myelitis isn't by definition fatal - people with this may die of complications depending on their overall function.
