Obgyn treatment: The first step is to confirm that it is a yeast infection. Often other infections are misdiagnosed. Then your doctor can determine which anti fungal treatment is appropriate. Then they can test to make sure that it is working and if not change the treatment plan

May need full eval: The first step is to verify that it is indeed a yeast infection. Lab tests will help confirm and also determine what fungus is responsible - some are resistant to the standard meds. 
Recurrent or persistent yeast infections may indicate either a "resistant" form of yeast or an underlying medical problem such as diabetes.
Combinations of meds and "biotherapy" may be necessary.

See a doctor: If you haven't already, you need to have an exam. You may have a different infection causing your symptoms. 

Occasionally, yeast may be resistant to the common treatments. These may require a broader spectrum antifungal, such as terconazole, if Monistat or Diflucan (fluconazole) don't help. Be sure to get an accurate diagnosis first.

Unlikely chronic. : There should be no such thing as a chronic yeast infection. In case you have a resistant strain a culture should be taken. Or perhaps you keep getting it. There are ways to prevent it. Talk to one of the gynecologist and I'm sure they can point you in the right direction.

Not yeast. BV?: Not surprising yeast meds didn't help. Contrary to common beliefs, vaginal yeast infections typically cause little or no increased discharge -- mostly itching/irritation, sometimes scant thick discharge. Thin ("watery") white discharge often is bacterial vaginosis, especially w/ strong odor. (Yeast infections don't smell.) And STDs are more common in women w/ BV. Get care soon for diagnosis and Rx

antibiotic use, which leads to a decrease in the amount of lactobacillus bacteria in your vagina and a change in your vaginal ph that allows yeast to overgrow
 pregnancy
 uncontrolled diabetes
 impaired immune system
 anything that changes the type and amount of bacteria normally present in the vagina, such as douching or irritation from inadequate vaginal lubrication.
