Wrist popping: some have normal popping as tendons or bones shift. The carpal ( wrist) bones shift as one flexes/extends or deviates and some just have looser ligaments that allow their bones to move more. Others can have injury or fatigue of ligaments due to different issues such as trauma or inflammation. Sometimes pain has nothing to do with popping, just the same motion gives both. Tendonitis can also "pop"

: What you mean by the "outer part" (thumb [radial] side or pinky [ulnar] side) could help answer this question. The motion you describe would strain the radial side, especially while planking, but the wrist involves articulations between 2 forearm, 8 wrist, and 5 hand bones, held together with ligaments and moved by tendons. You should see a hand surgeon or orthopedist for a thorough examination.

You could try wearing a wrist brace and taking an anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen or naproxen for a week. If no improvement,I recommend consulting a hand specialist.

The eight short carpal bones of the wrist are organized into a proximal row (scaphoid, lunate, triquetral and pisiform) and a distal row (trapezium, trapezoid, capitate and hamate). Sounds like you may be pressing on the carpal bones, but can't be sure from your question.

Painful vein?: Although not common veins can become thrombosed, prominent and tender after venipuncture.  If you can feel some firmness along the course of the vein and/or tenderness...Especially see any redness consult your physician after placing warm washcloth over area and taking aspirin.

Go see you Dr and: have an Xray taken to rule out fracture. It could just be bruising, sprain or strain of the tendons and ligaments. Were you trying hard  to dunk that ball like Lebron James or Michael Jordan? Hope you feel better!
