Yes: Hey!  you are a human being.  If you got your thumb split, would it hurt?  Cutting into tissue and through skin hurts.  Is that really a mystery?

Ankylosed tongue: Would be my best guess. This is called being " tongue tied". It happens when your tongue attachment (frenulum) is attached to the tip of your tongue. It restricts and limits full movement. The good news is there is a procedure called a frenectomy. This can be performed in a dental office with a scalpel or laser. People who were once tongue tied can have the benefits of full normal movement.

Not sure: I am not aware of anything that causes pain in the tongue.  Can you be more specific about what kind of pain, and what you ate?
You could have a small taste bud which is degenerating and causing a little pain, or you could also have a canker sore.

Tongue: infection may cause tongue pain. Some people are clenchers at night which can cause local tongue trauma. You should check it out

Yes: The tongue is highly inervated and vascular.  There are many potential complications to this surgery and the surgeon should be licensed and knowledgable about the complications.   Pain is managed like other soft tissue surgeries in the mouth, with pain medications and antibiotics.

Been what?: Sorry, your tongue has been what for three weeks? Did you bite it? Have a sore? Three weeks is a long time as the mouth and tongue usually heal quickly. See your dentist to have any sore looked at.

Burning tongue: A painful tongue can be the result of dry mouth. If you are breathing through your mouth while you sleep the dryness can cause a burning sensation of the tongue. Try using biotene gel to coat your tongue when you go to sleep and see if this helps. If not, have your dentist or ENT check it to be sure there isn't another underlying cause.
