Asthma?: I have two thoughts on your condition;
(1) You may have undiagnosed asthma which was worsened by tobacco smoke exposure.
(2)You may have caught a viral infection from someone in the gathering (or even from a week earlier).
If you start to have a fever or muscle aches, then a viral infection would be the answer.

Doctor can examine: Throat symptoms can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, one sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). A cough that's more than slight, or a weaker hoarse voice, is more likely viral.

Could be reflux...: Since it doesn't sound like you are sick, and allergy symptoms would last longer, I wonder if you are having gastro-esophageal reflux. When a little bit of the highly acidic liquid from your stomach sloshes up into the esophagus, it can actually cause hoarseness, spasm of the voice box, cough and wheezing. Check with your doctor. You may try OTC antihistamine and PPI to see if you have relief as well as keep well hydrated. If no improvement after a few days, see your doctor.

Go to ER: If your symptoms haven't resolved since you posted this an hour ago then go to the ER.  Get evaluated by an Allergist.  You will need an epinephrine autoinjector if you are allergic.
Reactions typically start right away but can be delayed.
