Throat pain: Majority of throat pain is due to viral illness.  Best to keep hydrated, gargle with salt water (1/2tsp sea salt in pint of water), fever reducer/pain medication such as ibuprophen or Tylenol, (acetaminophen) and time.

Dryness?: Are you a mouth breather? If yes, your sore throat may be due drying of the mucous membrane. 
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine.

Sore Throat: For significant sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes –  see physician &amp; get a strep throat test/ culture. If you have Strep Throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future complications. Consider Tylenol (acetaminophen) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Saltwater gargles: Mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Can gargle with Aloe Vera juice twice a day.

Throat pain: The question isnt specific enough.  Acute sore throats can be due to viruses or bacteris (like strep), allergy, others.  Chronic sore sore throat can be due to acid reflux, infection, cancer, etc.  It has to be checked by your doctor or ent.  Common remedies are gargle with warm salt water, chloraseptic spray.  Drink plenty of fluids.  A cup of tea with honey/lemon may help.

This is a normal finding and depending on the degree of inflammation in your ears, nose and throat, the degree of swelling will change. We commonly call these bumps lymphoid studding. See your ENT doctor for confirmation.

If saline gargles: aren't helping, see your doctor to have her/him examine your throat, and make sure it's not inflamed. Not sure what type of cigarettes you were smoking, but it's obviously irritated your mucous membrane of your throat lining, and even if inhaled, it can irritate your throat. So refrain from smoking anymore until you have it examined by your doctor, to make sure it's not affecting your breathing.
