Normal pattern: Before the baby ever has control of their limbs,the brain sends out regular movement signals to every muscle in the body.This acts to preserve the muscle mass and tone in each so it will be available when baby gains motor skills to use them.This is seen as random stretching and flexing that seems to be for no purpose.However, without it, baby's muscles would be too weak to use later.

Accepted Answer

Dry : Dry skin is a very common issue among children and adults.  Here are a few tips to keep you from itching.

- bathe daily with a moisturizing soap such as dove or aveeno (oatmeal).  Do not use drying soaps like ivory which can make skin even drier.

- apply moisturizer immediately after the bath while the skin is still damp

- use an odorless, colorless thick cream moisturizer such as eucerine or aquaphor.  It may be a little greasy, but it'll seal in the moisture much better than a lotion.

If the patches are becoming red, scaly, irritated, or just aren't improving, call your child's doctor.  Your child may have eczema (extremely dry skin) and may benefit from topical steroids to get the flare under control.  Good luck.

Avoid: using benadryl cream as it can be very sensitizing to the skin.  Make sure your child's nails are clipped short so he doesn't scratch himself.  Try over the counter calamine lotion or aveeno soothing cream.

Many possibilities : Have her doctor take a look, as this sounds like a pattern that can accompany a viral or perhaps a bacterial infection.  It might need time, or a prescription antibiotic cream/ointment, something else, or nothing.   Give the doctor a a call and see what he advises.  Hope this is helpful.

Unlikely: HFM can have spots/blisters in these locations.However, the presentation usually starts with small blisters in the back of the mouth, followed by distinctive blisters (oval and grayish) located in other sites.The fingers/hand/wrist are common as are the foot and ankle.The peri-anal region is also common. The rash you describe is non specific and could have been many things,HFM is unlikely.

Age spots: I know of no effective home remedies to lighten or reduce their appearance. Particularly if due to sun exposure, i would first make sure to be evaluated by a dermatologist to make sure there are not more concerning skin issues, before focusing on the use of products that will lessen on lighten these age spots. Topical creams and laser or light treatments can be very beneficial.

Scars: It is important to first know what caused the scars.  Second it is important to have the scars evaluated by a board certified plastic surgeon.  There are treatments available for scars whether it is laser to help with color blending, or radiation for keloids or revision with surgery.
