Dust Mites?: If you have gas heat or live where it's really dry in the winter, a humdifier may fix the problem. You might be allergic to dust mites.  You can try taking an antihistamine like Claritin (loratadine) or zyrtec and see if it helps your symptoms. If it does, you can try buying a special pillowcase and mattress cover for people who have dust mite allergies.You can also see an allergist and get tested.

Need to see Doc: This could be related to nasal septal deviation, enlarged turnbinates, nasal polyps etc. Try saline nasal lavage, and see your doc and may be an ENT to make sure that there is no obstructive pathology.

The physiologic drives to maintain adequate oxygen levels will cause you to breathe through your mouth if the nose is obstructed. This is why you wake up with a dry mouth as well as a stuffed nose.
