Get checked: Although it may not be due to a serious problem, why not have your condition evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon to determine the cause of your back discomfort? He or she will order appropriate tests and therapy.

Arthritis: In the absence of known trauma causing the pain, then the likely diagnosis is some type of arthritis especially a condition termed ankylosing spondylitis.  There are a few really serious conditions that could also cause this.  Check with your family doctor for a pathway to diagnosis and treatment.

Treatment Options: Unless there is a reason you can not take them, standard over the counter analgesics include anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen or naproxen. They work best if taken on a regular schedule for the length of the short tem pain (a couple of days) versus sporadically.Tylenol (acetaminophen) can also be taken during this time as well. Otherwise this should be evaluated by an appropriately trained provider.

It could be facet: Pain, but often during laminectomies they obliterate the medial branch that feeds the facet, so it is not the only possibility and other things, like post-laminectomy syndrome, should be considered. A diagnostic block of the medial branch can be an easy way to find out if those small nerves are causing the pain or not. Pt should still be in the discussion as well.

can a kidney stone cause a bruise on l lower back? i was told i had one and think im passing it llq pain mostly under ribs and low back pain on left. was told i have a uti as well

Kidney bleeding?: Bruising of the flank can result from internal bleeding near the kidney, which could cause pain similar to kidney stone. However, a stone itself is not likely to cause bruising. This could be serious:  contact your doctor ASAP. If not seeing a urologist, ask your doctor about possible referral to one. Good luck!

doctor, im suffering low back pain from 6 months ago. my low back left side is burning and my calf muscle and foot are pain and burn.. but thigh is better.. my lower back middle side is tingling... what is going wrong with me?? can you help me?

: Most lower back problems and associated symptoms are self-limited and recurrence can be prevented with back exercise. You can use local warm or cold pack locally for the symptoms + taking OTC analgesic if needed but you need to see a physiatrist or a physical therapist for exercise lessons.

had l spine xray and ct scan for kidney stones, all clear. low back pain..would l spine xray have shown lower back tumor? no stones, uti, etc.

No: X-ray does not show soft tissue well. So, if tumor, ct or MRI would be needed to show it. You mention that you have had a ct for stones. Usually this is abdominal ct and pelvic ct. If so, it would show low back. Your doc can tell you how much showed on ct and can discuss whether there is a reason for you to worry about a tumor.

Back spasms: The most common cause of low back pain in a young person is back strain or spasms. There are a large number of big muscles in the back that can be strained by activities. These respond with spasms that can be extremely painful. The usual treatments include physical therapy, heat, mild massage. If there is radiating pain, (pain that "shoots" into a leg), you may need further work-up by your pcp.

Yes: Discogenic and si joint pain can refer to knee l4-3 nerve irritation can refer to knee.

Not sure exactly: what it is without knowing how you hit or any other history, but you may have bruised your coccyx or caused some mal-alignment of the sacrum and coccyx. It should continue to get better. Try avoiding sitting on backside (use donut, sit on side, etc) for the next 2 weeks, ice occasionally, should get better. If not, see a physician to examine.
