i received 5 bee stings in head area.  my left eye continues to swell at night 6 days later.  what should i do?

See doctor?: If the eye swelling is obscuring your vision or bothersome to you cosmetically, ask your doctor for a Rx (steroid). Have you tried antihistamine yet? If not, it 's worth a try.   If the stings are truly from the bees, i would expect the problem to resolve in another week. The unusual feature is that the lid only swells at night and thus there may be possibly another cause for it.

woke up with skin under right eye swollen. 1 day later skin under left eye swelled but not as badly. 2 days later eyes started itching badly for only 2 days. 3 months later eyes still swollen. all blood tests normal. no itching at all now for months?

Accepted Answer

: This is either an accumulation of fluid seen in various medical disorders or a mobilization of some fat tissue which is only a cosmetic issue. In your case I doubt a medical issue. You could be examined by your physician, dermatologist or a plastic surgeon for evaluation &amp; advice.

my 3yr old son left eye is swollen. on top of eyelid was red and then swell up after a nap. been swollen for 2 days now.

Mgt: He may have an infection, please see a physician right away. They can then determine the need for hospitalization and antibiotics.

Swelling: Regional swelling as you describer would be concerning for a blockage is some type involving the left subclavian and jugular vein. Possible if you layed on your left side that compression alone could cause this, but obstruction more likely. I would let your provider know about these symptoms.

Eye doctor visit: See an eye doctor - not merely a vision examination. Ask for a clear explanation of your situation and if the specs prescribed relieve your problem, wear them. There may be other things than clear vision you need to take care of - ask till you understand. Best wishes!

hi, i have this pain at the corner of my left eye. i've only tried eye drops. my eye is not itchy, it's just very painful. there's a minimal swell if you look close enough. what could it be? what can i use to ease and prevent it from happening again?

Hard to know: The structures/tissues in and around the eye are very sensitive. Without a direct exam it is hard to know if this could be a retained foreign body, a scratch or a sore. If the pain persists after a generous attempt to flush the area with drops, I would have it examined.

my left eye pains a lot(the pain is more on backside of eyeball mainly the optical nerve)..the eyeball swells..i wear specs with no. less than -0.2..

See your eye Doctor!: Optic nerve swelling is nothing to sneeze about, and requires immediate eye care! So if you are feeling this, please have your eyes checked. Most people can't feel their optic nerve, so this is rather unusual, but an eye doctor can do a dilated exam and inspect your nerves, and take your intraocular pressure, and do tests to validate the cause of your eye pain. Don't delay!

yesterday i posted a question in regards to the poison ivy on my face my left eye is almost completely swelled shut and today the stuff i'm coughing is blue. what does that mean?

: I see no link of poison ivy exposure to a cough. The tissue of the face &amp; surrounding the eye is less tolerant to irritants and capable of more swelling. I would contact your doc &amp; seed if they agree a brief course of prednisone is needed.

Sinuses : Most pain in or around an eye is from sinusitis or headache.  Pain reliever and decongestant should relieve it.  If not, or if it is getting worse, go see your doctor.  It could also be due to an eye problem such an inflammation in (called uveitis) or around the eye.  You need to see an eye doctor to really rule this out.

i've had a strong, constant pulsing of the veins under my left eye for 2 days after i fell asleep in my contacts one night. why? should i worry?

Other symptoms?: Do you have any swelling or pain, Adischarge, and is vision ok?  Any redness?  Probably best to have i checked out in the office.
