: Spasm.  Muscles may still twitch for awhile after death for a bit as blood flow stops and they twitch as they die as well. Go to Wikipeida and read about muscle contraction and how it happens.

Ocular irritation: Likely causes of twitching of the eyelid (eyelid myokymia )are related to ocular surface irritation, whether its from dry eyes, eyelid inflammation, allergies, dust, wind, medications, or stress. First trial artificial tears 4-6 times per day. Warm compresses and lid massages may also help. See an eye md if these don't help.

No: Eyelid twitch or a tick medically called myokimia, without other ocular signs is almost always stress related that is why they are commonly called "nervous ticks". But if you get leg cramps often especially during sleep you must see your family md & get a calcium phosphorous and PTH levels checked.

: Being nervous could cause that in some people, and mineral imbalance may also do that. In view of other problems with your eyes it may be best to see a professional to examine your eyes; though loss of sight may not happen with twitchy eyes it is still important to get your eyes checked and probably use artificial tears.

Some comments: First, regarding eyelids, this could be benign myokymia, and not due to underlying disease. The romberg test may be a result of vitamin deficiency, inflammatory disorder, or even inner ear issue, and altho abnormal, nonspecific.  Fluctuating pins and needles may be due to nerve compression.  Best approach here is to get full neurological exam, and get a diagnosis which considers these issues.

Myokymia: Random twitching of an eyelid, which happens in normal people, is called myokymia (an involuntary, spontaneous, quivering of a few muscle cell bundles within a muscle). Myokymia starts and stops spontaneously. In the eyelids, it can last a few minutes to a few days. It can be caused by stress, dry eyes, lack of sleep.
