Preventive measures that can help include vitamin c, dilute bleach baths, benzoyl peroxide lotion, and bovine colostrum. Dsicusss with primary or dermatologist.

Maybe. Maybe not.: Pain medicine is a wonderful thing. There are big, small, deep, shallow, etc., wounds after a pilonidal abscess is drained. Whether pain medication is needed also depends on the patient and the dressing changer. One can ask the doctor how likely pain medication will be needed, and how soon before the dressing change should the pain medicine be taken.

In the mean time you can apply moist heat to the area and it may come to a head & drain spontaneously. It would still need to be looked at but that should relieve some of the pain until you can get in.

Please have your daughter seen by a dentist to treat abcess because her immune system may not be as strong since she has undergone chemo.  Dental abcess can be life threatening if untreated especially for patients undergoing chemotheraphy.

my 8month daughter got abscess operation post vaccination last week..while during her fifth dressing...some pus is seen in the wound. is it natural ?

On antibiotics?: New pus in a treated abscess is not good.  If the pus has been there and it is decreasing in amount then that suggests that it's getting better, but new pus or expanding erythema (redness) in a previously debrided/cleaned wound needs to be assessed asap.
