i am type 2 diabetic and my sweat smells like ammonia, why?

Get Checked: This is a very difficult question to answer with this much information.   How long have you had diabetes?  I have to wonder are you type 1 or 2?  How hi are your sugars?  This could be anything from early diabetic ketoacidosis (can get test strips in drug store), which should be treated in your doctor's office or ER to an odor from a particular food permeating your sweat.  It needs to be checked.

Hang in: Usually the side effects fade about the time the good effects kick in--also some anxiety sx may initially be confiused with side effects.

Perhaps: Reflux can cause chest pain but the smell may be due to other things.  Really need to get the reflux addressed by a GI specialist since this can have sever consequences over time including permanent esophageal damage.

Sounds like classic: panic attack sx's, but check it out with a general physical first.   There are 33 sx's of panic/anxiety and you've mentioned some of the big ones.   Dreams can set off panic attacks, only in this case your defenses against the attack is impaired (sleepy).   Learn all you can about anxiety.   Here's a reference:

Respiratory system:  Recommend medical assessment for treatment and testing. . Rest, hydrate, quarantine &amp; eat healthfully. Consider use of acetaminophen, saline for nasal irrigation, decongestant or cough syrup. Get urgent care for difficulty breathing, blue lips, marked persistent chest pain/ pressure or new onset confusion.

No, but urine does: The most common source of an ammonia smell in the genital area is "leaking or unwiped" urine.

Smell: I don't know why that is happening, nor do I know that you have discussed this with your doctor. If you have not - make another appointment. If you have - see another doctor. Ask your friends which doctor they like and trust.

Be seen: I would be seen and have a urine analysis.  Potential concerns could include a infectious process or hyperglycemia among other considerations.

Propionic acid: It is present in sweat and chemically similar to Acetic Acid (vinegar).

Do you work in a: place with lots of coffee aroma? Your question is certainly intriguing, as I have never heard of that smell spontaneously coming off as sweat.  Or some perfume or body lotion.
