my lower back and hips have been having severe pain! it has been hurting for a few months and for a few days now, my lower back is popping. what is it?

Could be anything: Low back pain in a 19 year old should be evaluated.  It could simply be muscle strain, but could also indicate more serious problem.  Popping probably doesn't mean much.  If pain is worse in morning associated with stiffness lasting > 30 minutes, then inflammatory disorder is possible. If it is worse with activity it could be more mechanical.  If pain wakes you up at night, seek help soon.

i need to know how to fix my back pain sharp pain in upper right shoulderblade, and in upper right chest. cant breathe deeply with out my back popping or it starts hurting

Back : Back problems are not usually aggravated by breathing.  They are not usually limited to shoulder blade and chest.  I recommend being checked out by your primary care doctor. Good luck!

Pain w arousal: I agree with Dr.  Soga. I also believe that this is a complicated matter that is not clear cut. I think that this deserves a comprehensive assessment.

Many Possibilities: Depending on how long it's been going on, i would consider an evaluation by a spine specialist.  Sometimes it could be a muscle imbalance, early onset arthritis or scoliosis.  Also could be a pinched nerve/herniated disc.  Either way it might be good to figure it out and get appropriate treatment.

Unlikely...: If your only symptom is "back cracking", then it is unlikely that the cause is cancer, especially if you have no personal history of cancer.  Pain, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, and other symptoms in association with back problems would be more concerning.  If you are worried about cancer and/or back trouble, please see a  primary care doc and give all of your symptoms.  Hope that this helps.

No,no: Scoliosis is usually not, in and of itself, associated with back cracking.  It is felt to be a similar phenomenon to cracking your knuckles.  Instead of the knuckles, the joints involved are thought to be the facet joints located in the posterior part of the spine.  Thank you for your question.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Hand eczema is not cured, but treated with a graded approach.  Avoidance of irritants ( hot water, detergents, soaps, solvents) and drying, application of non sensitizing moisturizers and graded application of topical steroids.

would a family doctor do tests to see if a young female (24) had joint damage from back cracking? or do they wait to see damage as you age ?

Accepted Answer

No evaluation needed: It may be the way you are built or that your musculature is just tight.  Cracking noise or sensation can be from several origins ranging from the small joints of your back "popping" like the cracking of your knuckles to tight soft tissue structures giving the same sensation when stretched or moving over one another or another musculoskeletal structure.  It is not a pathologic or bad thing.

Chest tightness?: Honestly, chest soreness made worse by smoking sounds like asthma in a28 year old... But talk to your doc.   A normal chest x-ray doesn't mean much, your exam and pulmonary function tests would be more interesting, as well as the history of your symptom progression.

when i stretch my neck out front and back i hear like popping noise in my jaws normal?

Yes: Yawning , opening your jaw can cause a popping noise in your throat or around the jaw. Not worrisome at all
