Appendicitis?: Any child with persistent significant abdominal pain lasting more than 2 hours without relief needs to be evaluated by an MD promptly.  Appendicitis can start with pain at the site of the umbilicus.  The pain usually moves towards the right lower quadrant after several hours. Mesenteric lymphadenitis, swollen lymph nodes of abdomen can imitate appendicitis.  See MD now.

See Pediatrician : Children commonly have headaches. Some questions that come to mind are- how long has she had the headaches? When does she get them? Any associated nausea? Is she otherwise active and taking part in all activities? You shd also have her eyes checked. Then child shd see a pediatrician who will evaluate her &amp; then decide if history of injury is of significance &amp; if investigations are in order.

Lots of reasons: Headache can be a sign of illness.  Many infections and metabolic problems can cause headache.  Brain infections and brain pressure can cause headache.  Stress and anxiety and lack of sleep can cause headache.  Vision problems can cause headache.  If all else is ruled out, it may be early signs of migraine.  A thorough medical evaluation is appropriate.

Headach & fever: How high is the fever? How severe is the headache? Any neck stiffness? Cough? Runny nose? Ear pain? Tylenol/advil/motrin (children's version, use appropriate dose for age and weight) will help both ha & fever. If there are other symptoms or ha/fever worsen, see fp for further evaluation & treatment. Cool compresses to the forehead may comfort the child, too.

No: Headaches are very common in children.  Tumors are not.  Children can have simple stress headaches which are usually mild, usually in the afternoon and evening and they come and go, and they get better when distracted.  Migraines also happen in children and usually one of the parents gets bad ha's as well.  Stress ha's usually improve with tylenol (acetaminophen) or motrin, but migraines often need rx meds.
