It depends: Often infants will grunt as they develop speech and control of their voice.  Some infants grunt due to underlying problems such as heart or lung problems.  You may want to have your doctor evaluate the grunting. You can help your doctor by making a quick video of the grunting, with your phone or camera, and bring it along with you to your doctor's appointment.

Need more info: It's best to have your pediatrician re-assess the situation- they are going to have all the pertinent details that are needed: How long has this been going on? How long ago was the milk changed? Has there been any change to the symptoms? What are the baby's bowel movements like? How well is the baby growing? The answers to these plus a good physical exam are necessary to adequately assess the prob

Normal events: At this age infants make a wide collection of sqeaking & grunting sounds that have no significance. They have rubbery, pliable airways that vibrate to make additional sounds & they have no social skills, they don't care if the noise they make is odd or not. The legs placement response is also normal until 6 -9 mo. When it becomes less frequent or dissapears.

5 month old has a chin quiver not related to seizures (had eeg done). saw neurologist who is not worried and will f/u at 9 mo. is this common or normal? was 6 weeks early. is alert and active, no other symptoms. not as noticeable as he grows older.

Normal baby : These are normal movements which have been thoroughly evaluated. Keep the neuro follow up at 9 months and check in with your pediatrician for his 6 month visit!

No: It's basically used for treating the inflammation in the air way.  The neurological risk is if the stridor persisted and was severe enough to interfere with oxygenation. That would be a potential neurological risk.

It can: Some breast fed infants can poo a smear every feed or have one cradle filler once a week. Breast milk is so well designed it does not leave as much bulk for disposal as formulas or other foods.

Soda to a 5mo old: Don't worry, there won't be any lasting harm if it was just a one time thing.  They'll be a little gassy and burpy, but that's it.  I probably don't even have to say it, but soda is not a good idea for any baby (and the same goes for toddlers and kids).  At 5mo old their endocrine systems are still developing and the effects of that much sugar and caffeine are not good.  The same goes for juice!

Air con: A fan improves your aircon. If it is comfortable for you, it is probably good for your baby also. Save some of your energy bills and use the fan. Your baby will spend the money you save now, later!

Baby trauma w phone: Would get the baby evaluated if any significant bruise or head trauma, especially if the baby is not acting the same or persistently crying.

Glycerin suppository: If a 5 or 6 month-old has been pushing when pooping, or pooping firm poops, a parent can try giving the child 2-3 ounces of regular prune juice, half prune half apple juice, or regular apple juice. A glycerin suppository can help and can be tried first, especially in babies who don't drink juice (some babies gag on juice). If the constipation is ongoing, a doctor can evaluate and offer more ideas.
