GERD: I agree that your symptoms are consistent with reflux of acid from the stomach.  There are many meds now available to decrease acid production in the stomach.  Most common cause of sore throats in young adults is not infection but GERD.

i'm not sure if it's an allergic reaction like swelling or if it's just a muscle thing but my throat has been bothering me since last week. it feels tight or like there's a lump right behind / around my adams apple at the bottom of my throat.
