Only one mumps: Parotitis , the single or doublesided swelling of the parotid gland is the classical feature of mumps. There is one mumps virus. However, there are multiple other viruses and some bacteria that can cause infection/swelling in the parotid glands. Just having swollen parotid glands does not mean you have mumps.

i am 16 years old, and have had both doses of my mmr vaccines. i have recently come into contact with the mumps virus (shared food with infected person, unknowingly), and i know symptoms take weeks to show. what should i do in the interim?

Should be ok: That is why we give the vaccines, for prevention of disease if you are exposed so it should be ok, no real preventative managment, unles you are pregnant,,,,

good afternoon - i currently have mumps virus and have been to the doctor, but i also have gotten some staph infections in my nose and under my arms. i have nasepetin and fucidin, is there anything else i can do to help with the staph.  ?

Mupirocin alt: Continue the creams as prescribed three times daily. Leave time for each to absorb prior to the next application of cream. Cleanse the skin well and avoid irritation to the area. Monitor for fever and cough. Please follow up with your PCP.

Influenza, cold: The influenza virus and the common cold viruses (rhinovirus, coronavirus, corizyvirus, and adenoviruses all have symptoms very similar to mumps.  The difference is longevity of illness with cold viruses generally lasting only a few days.  Mumps and influenza viral infections are prolonged lasting several weeks.  Early on in mumps people often think they have a cold virus due to similar symptoms.

According to CDC...: According to the centers for disease control, people with mumps are considered most contagious a few days before symptoms occur until 5 days after the onset of inflammation and swelling of the parotid (mumps) glands. Therefore the cdc recommends isolating mumps patients for 5 days after their glands begin to swell.

See below: Are you receiving platelet rich plasma? If yes, for what? It is not likely to do you any good. MMR will not have any effect on this otherwise dubious treatment.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

i think i caught the mumps from my flat mate. im starting to feel the symptoms but im not sure if its all my head.

should i go to the hospital?

Why hospital: If anything this would be a regular office visit. There is no treatment beyond supportive care &amp; the diagnosis can be made by simple exam &amp; testing. It would rarely if ever require emergent care even for the worst complications. Go if you wish.
