Accepted Answer

Dryness: It's more likely to be from dryness which is more common in cold weather. Try nasal saline rinses or nasal gels before bed. Don't use products that are petroleum based like vaseline.

i've had about 3 nose bleeds in the past 4 days & i think its due 2 the cold weather. my nose has been making a lot of big bloody boogers. is this bad?

Nose bleeds ...: In a young healthy person can be as simple as a small ruptured blood vessel due to dryness or cracking. It also could be a harbinger of something more serious. You should have it looked at by a doctor if it persists. In the meantime try a nasal saline gel to lubricate and moisten your membranes.

my nose bleeds off-and-on whatever the weather is, hot or cold. it started just this summer for the first time in life. i'm suffering from migraine as well from a year or so but it's when i'm stressed or struggling to cope up with it. need advice?

: If the nasal bleeding is always from the same nostril (and you don't have hypertension) I would check for a scab from dryness inside that nostril. (I assume you don't smoke).    If this is the case, rub a thin film of white vaseline inside the nostril nightly. Have a physician or an ENT specialist as needed.

when the weather changes or when it's really hot or cold outside i seem to end up having nose bleeds. after having a nosebleed i feel dizzy, lousy, and sometimes shaky is anything that i can do or take so i won't feel so miserable after a nosebleed?

Nosebleeds: Perhaps dryness of the mucus membranes predispose you to nosebleeds. Try applying a small amount of white Vaseline to your nasal passages each night. Consider humidifier I assume your blood pressure has been normal and you don't have other bleeding issues which can occur with low platelets,liver diseases, vitamin C deficiency, use of aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen or napro

Proabbly not: it's very common for blood to go down the throat. One small bleed that stopped promptly is not a big deal and not a reason for medical attention. If it keeps repeating or is a cup or greater, that would be a reason to see what is happening. Blood leaks, comes up. temporary then not a problem.

i have a 6 year old son and his nose bleeds at night.it happens often and it is in any weather anytime. should i be worried?

Common issue: It is common for kids to wake to a bloody pillow. This comes from the frail capillaries in his nose that break when  he rubs his face(nose) into the pillow when half asleep. It is a sign of irritant itching/allergies. Placing nose drops or saline gel (NASAL or OCEAN) in the nose at  bedtime usually reduces the frequency. Eliminating dust/ perfumes from his environment also helps.

my son is asthmatic. he's been having nose bleeds several times a day. the weather has been pretty warm here in montreal...is this common?

Yes: Nosebleeds can be common especially in people with nasal allergies which are often associated with asthma. However if nosebleeds continue, he should see his doctor.

people say its the dry weather but it happens any time of the year and even in the shower?

C an ENT specialist: for evaluation, meanwhile keep your nasal cavity moist by applying saline nasal spray at least twice a day and refrain from using any other nasal spray till seen, best wishes
