They are related: Localized Myeloma(one spot of tumor) is called a Plasmacytoma. Once the disease spreads to involve many parts of your bones(bone marrow exam shows it too) then it is called multiple myeloma. The treatments for the two entities may be different. Your oncologist  should explain it to you, if you ask,.

You should discuss with your doctor the pros and cons of asct in your case. Otherwise you are doing well yet you should be on maintenance chemotherapy with a drug like lenalidomide(revlimid) at the present time.

MM: Fatigue, bone pain, fractures of bones without injury, night sweats, pallor, malaise. Other than bone fractures, the other symptoms are not very specific.

No: It does not appear that we have a reliable cure for multiple myeloma. We can control it for a long period of time, and we continue to better understand treatment options and make new discoveries. 1 day hopefully not: One day, i'd like to quit saying that multiple myeloma is incurable disease, we have so many medication- biological chemo, transplantation that we can offer to treat this disease. Newer medication is more potent and able to give a very good response and increase survival of patient. However, for now we can't yet cure this disease. Allogeneic transplant would be the only thing that can cure myeloma.
