No, i dont think it is caused by a bone marrrow biopsy. You should however see you doctor and tell you doctor about the leg swelling. Blood clot in the leg- should be ruled out. Also need to evaluate you kidney and heart function as well .

None: No symptoms by definition. Smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM) is asymptomatic. If it is "symptomatic" then it is (symptomatic) multiple myeloma (MM). A new International Myeloma Working Group definition of SMM and MM was just published...http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanonc/article/PIIS1470-2045(14)70442-5/abstract Ultra high risk SMM is now called MM. The trial E3A06 looks at SMM.

Asymptomatic: Smoldering myeloma is a stage of Myeloma before patients become symptomatic. So it is discovered on routine checking of blood proteins or show up in a serum protein electrophoresis(SEP). Many of these patients develop symptoms within one or two years and the symptoms are bone/back pain or a broken bone due to myeloma.
