male 50 yr old. having pvcs for 6 weeks. 1st week burden 5-10%. got echo, heart fine cardiologist said. ekg showed unifocal pvcs. now increase in pvcs. when i lay down/sit i can have 15-20% burden, as soon as i walk they (almost) go away. benign or?

: If your cardiologist is saying your heart is ok, increase in PVCs could be due to stress, among other things. Be sure to hydrate and see if stress reduction helps. Be sure your electrolytes are ok as well as your blood count. If you have an electrolyte issue (like potassium) or anemia, that could increase PVCs. Good luck!

Safe on condition: If your PVC are being treated and are under control , moderate exercise may be tolerated. But first find out the cause of your pvc, and get treatments. Your cardiologist should advice you about the level of your exercise.

Not Dangerous: Multiple p.V.C. Are usually asymptomatic and not dangerous.They need to be treated if they are symptomatic or sustained irregular heart beats called ventricular tachycardia.

Freq, multifocal PVC: Pvcs mainly originate from the rv outflow tract, but some originate from from the lv outflow tract, mitral and tricuspid valve annulus. A major concern is that pvcs may initiate vt, polymorphic VT and ventricular fibrillation. This risk associated with pvcs is usually limited to patients with significant underlying heart disease or at risk of developing heart disease. Need to see a cardiologist.

Many things: Calcium and potassium are pretty important.
If you smoke, stop.  Smoking makes things worse quickly.  Stop coffee and tea as well as energy drinks and no doze.  If you are overweight you need to lose.  If you are a couch potato, start mild exercise like walking.  The exercise often improves the issue.
Finally, or possibly first, see your doctor. Pvcs as described can en up lethal.

Accepted Answer

Yes.: Do not know what you mean by “cut off”. More than one morphology of a PVC can be described as multi focal. Keep in mind that sinus beats interspersed with PVCs May be conducted aberrantly and may mimic a PVC from another ventricular focus. Careful mapping of the sinus beats will avoid this error. In a healthy heart an occasional multifocal PVC  may not add to the potential risk of PVC .

Accepted Answer

Not simple: Some studies have shown increased incidence of sudden death in people with frequent pvc's.  Structural abnormalities or coronary artery disease increase the risk.  Treatment of asymptomatic patients with anti arrhythmic drugs has not shown to be beneficial, and some trials have shown increased mortality with treatment.  Talk to your doctor if you have pvc's.

PVCs: For the most part, they're benign.  They're premature ventricular contractions that arise from different sites in the ventricle.  There's not overwhelming evidence that in healthy people with asymptomatic pvcs that they're at risk for anything bad happening, and most docs wouldn't treat people with asymptomatic pvcs.  But if you have other heart problems, you should consult with your cardiologist.

That is implied, but: can simply mean different conduction paths. Dominant mechanism of arrhythmias within heart muscle is cardiac re-entry due to damaged muscle cells; usually ischemia. Since arterial disease present if 1/2 of population by later childhood, optimize Ds drivers: e.g. NMR lipoproteins (e.g. LDL-P &lt;400 nmol/L, Large HDL-P &gt;9 umol/L), HbA1c &lt;5.0%, Systolic BP &lt;120 mmHg, No smoking, HFLC foods, as best Tx.
