Accepted Answer

NO: A nurse RN cannot work independently as far as I am aware. They may work for an agency but even they  have a series of orders from physician or extender as you have said. The Rn can only follow orders directly from a provider or along a protocol set up by a doctor.

By whom?: I generally think highly of pre-med students and welcome their interest and enthusiasm. I find your question a bit unusual. Who looks down upon you- your fellow students, teachers, doctors?  I would expect most people to respect someone who is a pre-med student!

Hospital or family d: Most hospitals have referral lines.  Your family doctor should know who is in your area.  Most communities have "acadamies" of medicine that will list members by specialty.

hello doctor: i take b-12 injections. my pa wants me to come in for blood work to renew my rx but i don't want to go near a doctor's office while i'm not sick, especially now. are sublingual b-12 supplements effective for those without intrinsic factor?

Yes: Multiple studies run in the 1990’s have shown that sublingual B12 achieved results comparable to intramuscular administration. That will not replace the need for bloodwork that might be useful in a broader context. Many offices have now curbside availability for that reason.

i have symptoms of b12 deficiency. sister & grandmother pernicious anaemia. b12 is 306. rbc & hct low. mch high. doctor ruling out pa. opinion? i'm 34

If you were my: patient, I would treat you for B12 deficiency after also checking MMA (methylmalonic acid) and homocysteine. 200 pg/ml is usually considered the lower limit of normal but with modest anemia, elevated MCH, symptoms and family history I would go ahead and treat you. Poor Understanding: Pa might refer to pulmonary artery, or a variety of other possibilities. Stents or bypass for coronary veins almost unheard of, though commonly promoted for coronary arteries. 70 for stents is an absurd number, even 7 would be unusually high; poor practice. None of these solve coronary artery disease, only expensive options for symptoms, with risks. You are in way over your head; need better help.
