Variable causes :  Visible  mucus in stool can be caused by different conditions , like  bacterial  infections , food poisoning , inflammatory bowel disese , like ulcerative colitis ,  digestive problems like irritable bowel syndrome , food allergies . it is more serious if accompanied by pain and bleeding , sudden change in stool color and consistency.  Stool  testing, and  other tests can help diagnose the cause.

Blood in stool ?: Black or tarry appearing  stools can be a sign of upper GI bleeding, suggest you take baby to doctor right away to get the stool tested and the baby examined properly for this... Do not wait for this to resolve !!

my daughter is almost 6months also low weight.yesterday she was not eating, & had watery, mucous yellow poop. nothing new in diet. what could this be?

DIARRHEA: Looks like mild viral diarrhea. If she has gotten 2 rota vaccines at 2 and 4 months, rota diarrhea is less likely.There are other many causes of viral diarrhea. Offer her pedialyte 4-6 ounces for each diarrhea. Give bananna, rice, applesauce, chicken/soup and continue breast feeding if you do.  Diarrhea will resolve in 3-7 days. If any worsening or vomiting, higher fever, see her pediatirician.

Probabely URI: Since the baby has fever and cough,I will advice to have the baby checked,The green poopwith normal stools is nothing to worry about
He may have contacted Upper Respiratory infection and it is better you have him checked

Possible infx: You may have an intestinal infection, which could be viral or bacterial.  Any blood however is always abnormal, and you should see a dr. (preferably gi) for an evaluation.  Good luck.

Stool mucus or more?: Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, & even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum. At the very least stool studies should help address if mucus white bits you're seeing are "worms" (pinworms, etc.) so rx can begin.

Inflammation: Mucus is generated as a result of some irritation or inflammation. It may be as simple as providing a probiotic that you can get from a health food store. If it persists it is advisable to seek pediatric advice locally.

Constipation : Most common cause is your diet. For a week write down everything you eat (breakfast,lunch,dinner, snacks). Then look it over and eliminate all of the foods known to cause constipation -i.e. Rice, oatmeal,barley,milk, bananas, you will notice a change in his stool pattern.

Discuss PCP: Hard to answer without all the growth information ( including height)  in the months between birth and current weight. The weight velocity really isn't too bad although it has slowed some. This really is something to discuss with his PCP since he has all the information.
