Likely not: Mucinex (guaifenesin) breaks up mucous and if your cough is caused by irritation in the back of your throat from nose drainage then not likely.
I recommend talking to your doctor, telling them you are not happy having the cough and ask if they have any idea of how to stop the nasal drainage

Intranasal steroids: Studies show intranasal steroids are highly effective as monotherapy for allergic rhinitis and more effective than antihistamines but okay in combination. 
If you have sinus pressure/cough you may need MD eval for possible acute bacterial rhinosinusitis as well.

Perhaps: Mucinex (guaifenesin) is supposed to loosen mucus and is worth a try but in general it is not terribly effective. Use plain Mucinex (guaifenesin) for this, the dm is for cough. Saline nasal spray may work as well. Also consider reflux which can give this complaint.
