why do i get a headache when i take mucinex d? could i be allergic or is it a side effect?

: A person is considered "intolerant" of a medication that causes such side effects, not allergic. Here the decongestant added to the Mucinex may be the culprit. Decongestants can elevate heart rate and blood pressure along with other symptoms. The general rule is if it hurts when you do that----don't do that.

if so, it is easily treated with the proper antibiotic and prednisone.

having body aches and chills and headache foe 2 days.  no fever.  been taking advil, nasal decongestant and mucinex but only giving temporary relief.  been drinking fluids.  what else should i try?

Keep same: Sounds like viral infection - " Flu like symptom". it  usually takes 7 days and testament is exactly as you do - symptomatic relive - fluids, rest, vapor inhalation, saline nasal rinse , soup,... and all " your mom recipes " If congested. Ibuprofen or Tylenol for pain and headache. If you develop more severe symptom  as fever  or severe headache, cough and trouble to breath - see your MD.
