Not proven: and drugs, cigarettes, and/or alcohol are much more proven causes of premature aging. (also obesity, lack of exercise, for skin wrinkling excess sun or other direct damage to it).

i had a virus, the virus is gone now i have slight ear ache, dizziness, balance problem.does it sound ear related or possibly ms? sleep makes it worse

Bet on the virus: Vertigo after a viral upper respiratory infection are fairly common.  You can get some inflammation in the vesicular system in your inner ear (part of your ear helping control balance).  It goes away after a few days and is nothing to worry about.  MS can cause vertigo, but common things be common, bet on the viral infection.  If you develop different/new neurology symptoms go see a doc then.

i have family history of ms, loss my sense of smell 10 years ago, migraines my whole life, getting worse during sleep, extremely forgetful, recently memory problems, depression and difficulty reading and writing (overall focus) could this be related ?

Neurologist: I recommend consulting a neurologist for evaluation and testing. Loss of smell years ago may have been a marker for future brain pathology. Loss of cognitive functions and depression are concerning. Your symptoms aren't characteristic of MS. Get the appropriate help you need by starting with a visit to a neurologist.

is it normal to sleep a lot when first diagnosed with ms?

More history: If it developed just after being diagnosed then it might just be your reaction to the diagnosis, as you would have already had the MS for some time before that.

does ms affect sleep?  if so, how can a person with ms get better sleep?

MS : Ms usually does not affect sleep directly. Frequently stress. Depression, spacticity  or inactivity may be the cause. For better sleep develop a sleep pattern where you develop a regular regime before bedtime.

which is worse? untreated sleep apnea or untreated ms? i know both are bad, just curious which is more dangerous

treat both: Sleep apnea can eventuate in blood pressure problems, potential cardiac issues, pulmonary emboli, and strokes.  If any of these events occur, most are sudden and relatively permanent quite often.  Untreated ms may be more gradual but sudden relapses have occurred, and once signs of disability occur, reversibility is unlikely.  So, complications from either can be rather catastrophic.  Don't ignore.

is it ok to do cardio during ms relapse? also... will more sleep help or hurt? i find myself sleeping 12 or more hours a day.

Complex: If you do indeed have MS, and a recent relapse, this is more profound than a decision regarding approach to exercise.  Your current treatment program needs to be fully re-assessed.  The sleep issues may well be associated, as you could have a sleep disorder due to the MS.  You are best advised to schedule a Concierge visit to deal with all of this in more thorough detail.

Sleep disorder: Question as to how normal and restful your sleep pattern might be, as some nocturnal events can be deceptive.  Consider an overnight sleep study, and a few blood tests.  Although ms pts do get a variety of sleep problems, a bigger issue for most is daytime fatigue from the moment they arise in am.  Glad you are investigating what is occurring.

Hard to say: Need more information to give you a good answer, but even with lots of info, no one could diagnose ms in a forum like this. A diagnosis of ms is a complicated thing to arrive at, requiring special tests and studies.  Numbness can be from a lot of things, much less concerning than ms usually.  For starters, where is the numbness?  The most common place when sleeping is hands -> carpal tunnel.

hi for a few days, i feel my body burning without skin disease, it gets disconnected when i sleep and wake up, usually it's not burning for a few minutes, but it starts again, is it a symptom of ms? and what could it be?

: A diagnosis of MS is based on "multiple" neurological problems involving different areas of brain and spinal cord over time.  Your "body burning" is so far, undiagnosed and could be associated with a number of other problems, such as fibromyalgia, polyneuropathy, erythromyelgia, dermatological conditions.  Start with your primary care physician and undergo a full examination.
