Unsure: First off, this has nothing to do with the fall.  We all have atrophy of the brain as we age.  Cannot tell you how significant it is without looking at the MRI itself.

if mri report shows diffused cerebral atrophy does it mean it has been spread to the whole brain how can a patient recover from it ?

Treat person not MRI: Cerebral atrophy simply describes the appearance of the brain on imaging studies. It does not imply anything about cause, effect, treatment. It is up to your doctor to determine whether the atrophy is age-appropriate, if it is causing symptoms, and ultimately if treatment is needed.

Atrophy, once identified, is not reversible. One can't undergo treatment to make the brain appear less atrophied.

at 44 mri to check for ms shows moderate cerebral atrophy of the frontal parietal lobes. no alcohol/rec drug use. what is the average life expectancy?

MRI does not: predict life expectancy.  It would be no different from other people in your area.

See below.: It means there is a concern of normal pressure hydrocephalus and a repeat scan or exam is recommended to detect whether or not this finding is significant.

at age 33, i had to have a ct scan followed by mri.  the results-had cerebral atrophy.  is this a concern for me and should i worry?

Neurologist: I recommend an evaluation by a neurologist as cerebral atrophy is premature in your age group. If your cognitive and neurological examinations are perfectly normal the ct scan findings may be questionable or insignificant.

i am 40 and this year in jan diagnosed in mri with mild diffues cerebral atrophy. what to do i fear no treatment  now i am taking steroids but no good?

Doubt the diagnosis: The diagnosis of mild cerebral atrophy is doubtful.  This is often based on MRI findings and it tends to have no clinical significance.  There is probably no need for steroid treatment.

It would be a good idea to obtain a second opinion and formal consultation about this matter.

mri says ventricles and sulci are prominent, suggesting minimal generalised age-related cerebral atrophy . tremor in right leg also. during sleep and 2hrs after wakeup normal. is it curable?

Shaking: If you are experiencing shaking on one leg during sleep with unremarkable MRI restless leg would be a likely.

Brain Atrophy: Brain atrophy is absolutely detectable on both ct and mri.  This is most easily determined by assessing the size of the spaces in your brain that contain cerebrospinal fluid.  These tend to enlarge with atrophy of the brain.

Yes: Either one will show it but the MRI will provide more detail espec of the posterior fossa.

Not uncommon: Brain atrophy not uncommon, as at least 65% of all ms pts will develop some cognitive problems, but important to emphasize that some medications can control and maybe reverse.  The oral med Gilenya (fingolimod) may be a good choice for you, as atrophy data best on market to date(but "off label" currently).  My colleagues across the country have had best symptom relief with generic galantamine. Hope it works.
