Not sure: I'm not sure what you mean by a pre mouth wash. Do you mean a rinse before you brush? You don't really need that. Just brush thoroughly 2-3 times a day with Fluoride toothpaste, floss daily, and rinse once daily with listerine.

Water Flosser: Many mouthwashes have alcohol in them ,some as much as 20% with extreme mints can dry your mouth, so limit the use of it. Alternate alcohol and non-alcohol mouthwash during the day.  A great alternative to mouth wash would be to use a device called the Water Flosser.

There is none: There is no one generally agreed upon "best mouth-wash". In my opinion, for most individuals mouth rinses are not an essential part of a good oral hygiene regimen. There are specific mouth rinses for specific purposes and if one is needed, your own dentist can recommend the right one for you. For general purposes,  listerine and crest prohealth are two of my own personal  favorites.

Depends: What is the reason for using mouthwash. Many patients will use a mouthwash after brushing and flossing.  If you are using a perscription mouthwash follow your dentist's directions.  If your mouth is healthy and you brush, floss  and see a dentist regularly you really so not need it at all.

2x daily: I would use mouthwash 2x daily after brushing. I would also use an alcohol free mouthwash  if possible.

Know why....: How often you should rinse your mouth depends on why you are to do so, as well as what rinse you are using. There are many different mouth rinse products; some are to prevent future cavities, and some are to control harmful gum disease bacteria, some are to reduce fungus in mouth, or to aid healing after surgery.  Have your dentist help you find ; use the best products for your condition.

Depends: Alcohol based mouthwash is not bad. However, it would be bad for an alcoholic or a child to use, in case of ingestion.

Sometimes: The chemicals and artificial flavorings can cause sensitivity in some individuals.  Each of us has a unique makeup that can cause us to be sensitivity to ingredients in medications or foods that most others don't have.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Yes, but better to take the retainers off since they may prevent the mouthwash from accessing all surfaces of your teeth.
