Antiviral ointments for herpes and steroid ointment for apthous ulcers - both presription medications. Consult dentist /physician.

No cure- it's herpes: More than likely it's caused by a herpes outbreak (hsv-1 typically). Drinking acidic fluids can make the situation worse; with poor dental hygiene, the burden of bacteria will allow the ulcers to fester. In certain instances, medications such as acyclivro can help. Otherwise, the burden of oral bacterial can be tamed by the use of either listerine or a warm salt water gargle for 1min, 3 times daily.

Talk with your doc: Monthly mouth ulcer is frequent ... And now you're getting more of them during an episode. Please talk with your doc about how to make them go away faster and how to prevent them. Depending on what's causing them, there may be medicine you can take to prevent them from happening. Also strong well being choices [eating right, exercising, good rest] can help too! good luck.

: They are not the same. A cold sore is a virus, herpes simplex virus-1. Causes are common cold, fever, flu, sun exposure, stress, hormonal changes, and trauma to area. A canker sore is from stress, infection, vitamin deficiencies, hot spicy foods and a build up of acid in saliva. Both are treatable but only the cold sore is contagious.
