No: Motrin does not contain aspirin, but it is related to Aspirin (both are known as nsaids).  You should not take full doses of Aspirin if you are taking Motrin also.  You can still take Aspirin for heart prevention.  If you do so, make sure and take it at least 1 hour before taking motrin.

No: Aspirin and motrin help with menstrual pain and symptoms .They donot affect  the amount of bleeding

Family practice : Because you had an Aspirin allergy it didn't mean you had an allergy to motrin.

No: Aspirin is a blood thinner and would not cause a blood clot. Motrin should not cause a blood clot either.

Taking : Taking Percodan (oxycodone and aspirin) and Motrin around the same time should be avoided unless specifically instructed to do so by your doctor.  Percodan (oxycodone and aspirin) contains Aspirin which is in a similar drug family to motrin.  The combination can increase your chance of gastrointestinal toxicity and severe bleeding. have read that hives are specific to one nsaid, but i had mild hives from both motrin and aspirin. worse with motrin, barely with aspirin. why both?

Right: In this case , you may be allergic to both.  Do you develop hives from aleve or mobic (meloxicam)?   If you have hives from all nsaids, then it blows away the current thinking of NSAID hives is related to a specific nsaid.  Medicine is always evolving and it is patients like you who can help us broaden our knowledge.

i take 2 lo dose aspirin daily. at times i take 800 mg motrin 3 x day for knee or back problems for 2 to 3 weeks at a time. is it safe to take both?

Aspirin vs Ibuprofen: Check out http://www.Drugs.Com/interactions-check.Php?Drug_list=1310-0, 243-3197. There are concerns that Ibuprofen and other nsaids can mitigate the benefit of aspirin. Talk to your doc about your Aspirin dose as we typically only recommend 75-81mg daily to minimize bleeding side effects. This can be magnified by regular use of Ibuprofen so ask your doc for other options. Consider ppi + nsaid.

Unfortunately u cant: But the good news, is if u really need aspirin, and that is a medical decision, you can get it thru a desensitization protocol up to the desired dose, pls refer to an allergist 4 evaluation.

: There are many non-steroidal meds which can be taken. But all of them under the guidance of the doc treating the patient -for they know about the condition of the patient and we do not- so let the doc be the judge

Asa no: It may cause GI bleeding others in large doses and over 4 to 5 yr reg use
